When it’s not writers block or inspiration lack..
…When it’s not procrastination. What the hell is it?
It’s something–something I can’t put my finger on. Maybe it’s a break. Maybe I need one. Maybe that’s all it is. I literally can not focus. For days, I can’t. Maybe its burn out. Maybe working on something else for a while would help. Suggestions? Been here before?

You have what I call Writers Let Down. The words are in your head but you can’t get them out. I have been there more times then I care to count. But there is an easy fix. Or there is for me. Stop trying. Try doing a free write where you write down what ever flows through your mind, but don’t think about what you’re writing. You could also try reading what you’ve gotten done already. Start from the top and just read it as if it’s a book you want to read. Don’t edit or add to it, just read it. By the time you get to where you left off you might be able to focus again. If those things don’t work, then take a break from it. Read your favorite book instead, take a walk in the park or just watch some TV. If you still can’t focus on the work, it might be that the story needs to simmer for a little while. This is normal. So, start something brand new and work on that one for a while. But don’t stress over it, that will only make it worse. I hope this helps and happy writing!

Thanks so much for the insight and the advice, I really appreciate it. Writers Let Down. Well, at least is has a name. A name that fits at that. The words are there, the story is there as it has been for so long now, I just can’t think.. if that makes sense. I will give your options a try. Thanks again and for commenting!:)

Just do anything that keeps you away from the computer, cooking, gardening….go to beach! As soon as you are unable to sit down, everything will flow!
