Everybody Has A Secret World …
“Everybody has a secret world inside of them. I mean everybody. All of the people in the whole world, I mean everybody — no matter how dull and boring they are on the outside. Inside them they’ve all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds… Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands, maybe.”

Always Dream
“Always dream and shoot higher than you know how to. Don’t bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.”

You Have To Dream …
“You have to dream intentionally. Most people dream a dream when they are asleep. But to be a writer, you have to dream while you are awake, intentionally.”

Dream State.
I woke up at 4 am with dialogue streaming through my head, pages of it. My story taking a more defined shape–coming together. It’s been a while since this has happened. And it seems to me almost every time I take a little break or step back for a few days and read someone elses work, one of my own works yells at me. Usually in the middle of the night. As I started reading Beautiful Creatures yesterday (an interesting read so far) I assumed I would dream about it. I always dream about the books I’m reading, especially when I read 225 pages in one day. It’s sort of like when you’re studying for an exam, all that information gets crammed into your head and then seeps out in your dreams. But this time…nothing. Not even a grain of thought seeped in while I drifted to sleep. Odd really. Instead my mind flooded with my own novel and where it was going, and it was doing. It’s nice because now and then when my conscious mind seems lost, my subconscious mind takes up the slack. So I think I’ll be writing today. That’s always a really good thing.
