The Best Of: Author Excerpt Series

The best of: Author excerpt series.

There are so many incredible writers, so much talent, and too many books to ever try to read them all. I thought, in light of that fact, it would be nice to share some of the best of the best. Quick little hints of what lies inside the pages of some of the books from my favorite authors.

JK Rowling:

“Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears.
“After all this time?”
“Always,” said Snape.

Of course it is happening inside your head…

“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

Harry Potter and The End Of An Era

I’ve been both dreading, and impatiently awaiting, part 2 of The Deathly Hallows for a year. As the release date grew nearer, so did my mixed emotions. I’ve proudly read the HP series more times than I know. And I have been in love with the stories from day one. I know all the finite details, all the ins and outs of the characters and I would gladly walk in their world. I was thrilled by the idea of the HP theme park and revealed in the thought of actually being able to feel some of that magic in a real and tangible place. Now, as the story has finally come to an end, I feel a little heartbroken.

As large and popular as the HP franchise has become, there is still a very real and humble aspect to the story itself. The battle between good and evil, right and wrong in the face of adversity. At the heart of this series lies a very simple idea. An idea that is simply human.

JK Rowling is a master story-teller and she created one of the richest worlds I have ever had the pleasure to explore. I will miss it so much. Regardless of how many times I re-read HP, which I will continue to do, I know it won’t be the same. It seems a wide open hole will exist in the reading world without Rowling there to fill it.

Maybe I’ll get lucky and she’ll spin-off into Teddy’s world as she mentioned a few years ago… I can hope.
