#TeaserTuesday ~ TORN (Fire Born 2) #YA #UF

Welcome to Teaser Tuesday.

Today I’m sharing a sample from TORN, the second installment in the

Fire Born Trilogy.

This sample is taken from near the beginning of the book:

The stab of feathers bites across my shoulder blades. A constant crash of wind and waves pounds in my ears, and the harsh odor of burnt wood and plaster overwhelms my senses. Running my fingers along rough fabric underneath my body, tufts of material come loose in my hand.

“Looky, looky. She wakes.” A woman’s voice rebounds, as if it’s closing in on me. “Come to see the ruin?”

With fists clenched , my sleepy-eyed gaze roves across darkened, soot-mottled walls. “Where am I?” The slur in my voice doesn’t surprise me—I’ve become accustomed to what it must feel like to be hit by a tranquilizer dart.

“Where are you? Where am I? It seems a redundant question. You are here. I am here.” She snickers.

Shading my eyes with my hand, my gaze travels up a staircase banister, on toward the highest point of the ceiling far above my head. Attached to the wall like a spider, skin hanging from her bones, a woman peers down. From her perch, she smiles, a blackened-toothed grin spreading slowly over her wide, lopsided mouth.

“Clever, I see.” She nods. “Smart is good—clever is better.”

Second Book in The Fire Born Novels by Laney McMann to release September 2014

Laney McMann’s debut novel, TIED, a Fire Born novel, will release its sequel, TORN, in September 2014.

The second installment in the Fire Born Novels continues Layla and Max’s story, widening the supernatural world and introducing a new set of characters into the fray. TORN ties together the loose strands started in TIED, and is a key element toward completing the circle of the trilogy.

Unlike book one in the series, TORN revolves not only around Layla LaBelle’s journey, but we get a view inside Max’s head, as the story is written in both perspectives.

TORN releases September 2014 in e-book and print by J. Taylor Publishing

Photo on 2014-02-01 at 13.13 #5With a passion for the supernatural and all things magical, Laney McMann developed a voracious appetite for reading fantasy at a young age. By the time she reached her teens, Laney had accumulated notebooks full of poems which led to short stories and finally novels, specifically in the young adult dark fantasy, paranormal romance, and mythology genres.

Stay tuned next month, as I have New News regarding the series. 😉

Book Release and #Giveaway ~ Darkest Day (The 19th Year #3) by Emi Gayle

January 6th marked the release of Darkest Day by Emi Gayle, the final book in the 19th Year Trilogy.

(Is everyone sad yet?)

To celebrate the release, we have a big Giveaway, a quick 10’s List with Suze, and a fun poll about Mac.

Let’s check the book out first:

Blurb:

Mac Thorne’s time as a Changeling is coming to an end.

It may have taken eighteen years, but Mac did finally manage to do what the Council wanted: she chose a teacher and renounced the in-between.

There’s just one last step. She must say goodbye to her human. Forever.

After being challenged in every way possible, Mac leaves what she thought would be the easiest task for the last possible moment. As midnight on July fourth draws near, though, she hasn’t found a way to give up Winn Thomas.

Nor does she want to.

With time running out, Mac stands at a literal crossroads.

Choose Winn, and she’ll be stripped of the only family she’s ever known—vampires, dragons, and her favorite demon. Even her own mother. Accept her position on the Council and rule as an equal to her twelve peers, and she’ll forget Winn ever existed.

Independence and freedom have never before been so limiting.

In this final chapter of the 19th Year Trilogy, it’s time for Mac to decide.

Responsibility? Or Love?
